Do You Make Your Kids Cry?

cry2

I know, all parents make their kids cry from time to time. Kids’ emotions are pretty out of whack, and they will cry at the drop of a dime sometimes.

But there are other times, times like this morning where I made my daughter cry – and it makes me feel horrible.

We were running late this morning, which always makes me overwhelmed. On top of that, she couldn’t find her shoes, she was arguing with her sister, and she was just irritating me to no end. ( Does that make me a bad mom?) Anyway, with 15 minutes to spare, I realized we didn’t get a chance to finish her homework from the night before.

(Editor’s note : By “Didn’t get a chance to finish I mean we were too busy snacking and watching a Disney movie)

So, of course this made me even more overwhelmed. We started her homework, and I walked away to grab jackets. I come back to a whiny 5 year old saying she doesn’t “know how” to color 5 fish that match. Ugh.

“What do you mean, you don’t know how? We are late, color the damn fish and let’s go!” While walking away, I hear her crying. And no, its not the annoying burst of drama that usually comes out while fighting with her sister. It was a quite, “you hurt my feelings” kind of cry. She finished the stupid fish, and put the homework in her backpack. She wiped her tears and said quietly “I’m ready mommy.”

Oh, if i wasn’t already feeling bad!

I apologized, and told her I yelled because I was impatient and overwhelmed, not because she did anything wrong. I said it was my fault for not making sure it was done last night.

“It’s OK, mommy. I love you”

UGH- that’s not making me feel better! =(

It’s been 30 minutes since i took her to school, and I still feel like the worst mom alive. I just want to get her from school early and take her to the movies and a toy store…..

Do you ever feel horrible about your parenting?

School Skippers

It’s 9am and the girls are still in their jammies. Why? Because we are skipping school today. The weather is horrible, and Little Miss sugar has a cold. As for Little Miss Spice?  She’ll take a day off from school any day of the week so she gladly accepted my offer.

I understand that by noon I will regret my decision…But until then we will play barbies, watch Disney Movies and stay in our Pajamas! I love Couch Potato Days, Don’t you?
